Let's Make Indigo House FULLY Wheelchair Accessible!
My beloved community,
For my birthday this year, please consider donating to Indigo House as we make the final stretch towards making our space fully wheelchair accessible!
As many of you may know, last summer I was hit by a car while riding bikes with my dear friend, Sara Rogers who tragically passed away. The car’s damage left me wheelchair bound for nearly half a year.
Most of you also know that I am also privileged enough to own my home and have worked with an incredible group of Queer & Trans folks to open it up to the community for donation-based Events, Workshops, and Retreats. We lovingly call it Indigo House
As the world becomes more and more violent towards the LGBTQ+ community— and especially Trans People, we know that safe spaces for us are more important than ever.
I was so grateful to be able to utilize insurance funds to purchase a wheelchair ramp that I could keep forever to make sure that everyone in the community can gather in our space together.
We’re SO CLOSE to making the Community Space entirely wheelchair accessible— BUT we just need to do a bit of work to re-construct the bathroom doorframe to fit a wheelchair; ensuring that everyone will feel welcome and comfortable at Indigo House.
We’ve secured a contractor and are building up the plans now! All we need is some financial support!
If this last year has taught me anything, it’s that everything can change in an instant. Everyone deserves to know that they can count on a community at Indigo House no matter what. I barely have the words to describe what it’s like to have made it to another birthday without Sara. I try so hard to make sure that this space serves a hub for all of the love and light she brought to this world.
