Along the shores of Phala Beach in Thailand live many homeless street dogs, colloquially known as ‘soi’ dogs. Some dogs were abandoned when they were no longer cute little puppies, while other were born there. Each one of these dogs lives a harsh life, searching for food, defending their pack and simply trying to survive. We've chosen not to show pictures of the extreme cases, but rest assured there are many dogs dying every day.

A very kind lady named Caroline Worthington has been caring for these dogs every day for over 3 years, in which time she's managed to find homes for over 56 animals. She mostly works alone and drives 45 minutes in from Pattaya each day to feed and care for them. Her love for them has grown each day and they have become like family to her. She knows them all by name and they come to the sound of her voice. She mostly works alone, feeding and medicating them while trying to find them all loving homes. She has recruited me and a small group of caring volunteers who help her as much as we can. Most of us have learned about her good deeds from her Facebook page knows as the Ban Chang Angels for Soi Dogs. She treats each dog with love and care, making sure they are happy and healthy, often using plenty of her own money.

Each time one of us goes down to care for the dogs, we see a look in the dogs’ eyes saying “thank you, we’re HUNGRY!”. Once you meet these dogs, you realize that they’re just like all other dogs: playful, attentive and loving. They are so gentle and eat right out of our hands. They are used to the love and generosity of the local people, despite the neglect and abuse that some have endured.

Recently, we have realised that there is so much more we can do, since our personal support can only take this cause so far. With your support, we will be able to help feed, medicate, sterilize and care for the dogs of Ban Chang with 100% of all proceeds will do directly to the dogs. All of our helpers are working on this project on a volunteer basis.

This campaign’s highest priority is to sterilise the street dogs to prevent further breeding and keep the population under control. Additionally, a small contribution will immediately go towards:

• Sterilisation
• Emergency medical attention
• Vaccinations
• Flea & Tick treatments
• Local & overseas adoption efforts

We will also be hosting regular local fundraising events and work with the community to raise awareness and support.
