Help us re-open for regular hours in 2021!
The Lucy Parsons Center is an independent, non-profit, radical
bookstore and community space. We are run by an organizing collective
and kept alive by the dedicated activists who contribute their time to
keeping this project on its feet.
Since March of 2020, we have been closed to the public due to
the COVID-19 pandemic, with most of our organizing capacity committed
to helping to operate the Solidarity Supply Distro mutual
aid project, providing free groceries to families in need and offering
a monthly Free Store.
As a non-profit bookstore, we depend on book sales and donations
to stay open - while we've been able to stay afloat thus far due to a
few generous monthly donors, our ability to remain solvent
long-term and continue to provide an organizing and educational
space for the Boston activist community depends on being able to
return to regular store hours, and expand our services to offer
online sales.
In order to accomplish this, we are asking for your donations in
order to help offset the cost of staffing the space.
Having a paid, part-time staff member will help us:
1)
Open for consistent hours (Monday through Friday, with volunteer
staff on Sundays);
2) Rebuild our website and develop a
web-store to offer online orders and shipping;
3) and, once
the COVID-19 pandemic has subsided and we can responsibly do so,
return to offering regular programming (such as radical movie
nights, in-person study groups, and more!)
Any donations beyond what we have budgeted to
pay our part-time staff will go directly to keeping the store open,
including replenishing our stock of radical literature, replacing our
door (and otherwise restoring the space), and helping to cover our
other monthly costs.
