Young blind and visually impaired people have a support network via our 'Social Eyes' club. Due to lack of funds we've lost the staff who facilitated the club which members have come to rely on. They would really miss it. Help us raise the money to keep it going by participating in our #whatwouldyoumiss campaign.

This club has truly changed lives, giving confidence, skills and emotional support to people with sight-loss. This reduces the reliance on local health and social care services that cost public money.
Almost two-thirds of people registered blind or partially-sighted never or rarely go out. Many report withdrawal from socialising and leisure activities causing loneliness, depression, isolation and social exclusion. This club tackles those issues and gets people together, in the community and doing things - please don't let that stop now.
With the club people learned independence and skills through training and volunteering, gaining employability.
Local authority support has declined for disability; and sight loss has been worst affected with a 43% decrease since 2005, and Poole is the 8th worst County affected in the UK. Dorset Blind Association has had increased demand for services and we are finding it hard to keep up with the cost. With no government funding we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations from the community and had a £40,000 shortfall this year. We know our young blind club makes life better for our members, help us save our club!
