Dog Is My Shepherd Rescue & Rehab is a licensed, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization based in Northlake, IL. Our mission is simple but powerful:

✨ We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome the most vulnerable animals — the forgotten, the abandoned, the misunderstood, the seniors, the medical cases, and the ones no one else steps up for. ✨

Every dog or cat that enters our care receives:

• Immediate safety and crisis stabilization
• Full veterinary care, including vaccines, testing, spay/neuter, emergency treatment, and ongoing medical support
• Behavioral rehabilitation, confidence building, socialization, and decompression
• Placement into loving foster homes whenever possible
• A lifelong promise: if they ever lose their home, they always have a place with us

We partner with overwhelmed shelters, rural pounds, law-enforcement cases, and families in crisis. Many of our animals arrive scared, neglected, pregnant, or with untreated medical conditions — but we meet every single one of them with compassion, safety, and a chance at a new life.

Since opening, we have helped over 300 animals find safety, healing, and forever homes.

We also run a Heartworm Compassion Program that welcomes HW-positive dogs most rescues turn away, giving them the medical treatment and care they deserve.

Our work is entirely funded by donors, fosters, and people who believe that every life matters — no matter how broken or forgotten.
