Axel is an 8-year-old senior pit bull who came to Dog Is My Shepherd Rescue & Rehab after we were asked to make room for him based on commitments that his medical care would be covered.
Unfortunately, that support did not materialize.
Now Axel is here, he is ours, and we are responsible for everything he needs.

Axel is severely heartworm positive , and because of his age, his treatment has to be handled carefully and correctly.
We are a very small rescue, and medical cases like Axel can place a significant burden on our resources. His everyday care is already covered by us — food, housing, transportation, supplies and everything else that comes with having him in our program.
This fundraiser is specifically for Axel’s veterinary treatment.
We are not asking because we regret taking him.
We are asking because Axel deserves to receive every treatment he needs without his care taking resources away from the other dogs already depending on us.
We made room for Axel.
Now we need help getting him healthy. ❤️
