Dog Is My Shepherd Rescue & Rehab is currently caring for 36 rescued dogs living in foster homes and boarding facilities. Every one of them is waiting for a loving forever family, but before they can safely begin their new lives, we must make sure they are healthy.

That is why every dog in our care needs a series of three fecal exams to screen for intestinal parasites.

These tests help detect intestinal parasites and other health issues that often show no symptoms for a long time. If left untreated, parasites can lead to malnutrition, chronic illness, and in puppies, senior dogs, or dogs with weakened immune systems, they can even become life-threatening.

Why do we perform three fecal exams?

Because parasites do not shed eggs in every stool sample. A single test can produce a false negative result, which is why veterinarians recommend testing multiple samples. Only then can we be confident that a dog is parasite-free or identify those who need treatment.

In the photos, you can see the samples prepared for testing. Each sample belongs to one of our rescued dogs. Behind every sample is a dog we promised to protect, care for, and give a second chance at life.

All fecal testing is performed by Delta Animal Hospital, a trusted veterinary clinic that has partnered with our rescue for many years.

This amount will cover the cost of three fecal exams for all 36 dogs currently in our care.
