| CREATIVE We ALL have strands of creativity running through us - the ability to bring into existence - whatever form they may take. We all have something to offer, which can impact the world around us. Our events and workshops are collaborative, which means that participants will have a level of creative agency over their outcome.
COLLECTIVE We are all interconnected - humanity is not selective: to care for one is to care for all. Our contributors are made up of volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, faiths and occupations, who are bringing their varied skillsets to the project.
Focusing on collectivism over individualism, everything produced in our workshops will be collated and bound into a book, as a piece of co-created collaborative art. Whether visiting, participating, supporting or contributing, you are all part of the collective.
ACTION Through The Cracks is dedicated to justice for Palestine. All funds raised from Through The Cracks will be donated to the Amos Trust Emergency Appeal for Gaza.
Art can communicate difficult concepts in an uncomplicated, visceral and emotive manner. It can effect change in the world - it does so subliminally by seeping into culture and consciousness.
Together we can make a difference. |

For over a year we've been suffering feelings of grief and powerlessness as we watch a genocide unfold. Connection and community with others who share our pain offers solace. In this workshop, we'll use the creative therapy of FreeWriting (no writing experience required!) to put our messy, unstructured emotions onto paper (sharing optional). At the end of the workshop, together, we will create a Poem for Palestine.

A beginners workshop in Sashiko AKA visible mending.
As well as being tangible metaphor for making visible the damage happening in Gaza and the necessity of repair, this workshop offers a 101 in the techniques needed to start using this skill at home: to create art with your own wardrobe and to practice recycling through the decorative repair of wear and tear.
Hosted by local community participant Susan Appleby who describes spending most of her life in logical disciplines such as mathematics and software engineering, but had her creativite horizons expanded when she learnt the art of Sashiko with Designer Skye Pennant; the liberation of permission to go outside of the box and explore individual expression.

A space to come together to re-centre, re-align and feel. Feeling is healing, but sometimes we just don't know how ... or the sensation seems too overwhelming. By moving, connecting to our breath and allowing the energy to flow, we encourage the feelings to do the same. We replace fear with love, anger with purpose and judgment with peace.
In this session, we might chat, we might move, we might breathe together, we might laugh, we might cry, we might meditate…. We might experience all of the above. Whatever the process, we will return to our bodies and come together in peace, love and connection.
