Your share could raise $30
Before you go, did you know that simply by sharing this campaign, you could help it raise $30? It's an effective way to support the cause.
Share this campaign No thanksAcademy of Therapeutic Sciences hasn't added a story.
This is a difficult update to share. My business partner and I could not find common ground on the future of the Academy of Intrinsic Studies, and I have made the painful decision to walk away and start a new school.
I put a tremendous amount of trust, work, and heart into that partnership and into AIS. Having it end this way has been heartbreaking. It is difficult to accept that something I believed in so deeply will not move forward in the way I had hoped.
But I am not starting over without anything. I am bringing the knowledge I have gained, the lessons I have learned, and a solid team of people who believe in this work. Together, we want to build a school that is stronger, more effective, and more thoughtful about how we prepare people to support others.
We are starting the Academy of Therapeutic Sciences. Our purpose is to provide education that supports the growth of psychedelic-assisted therapy while keeping ethics, preparation, cultural humility, and responsible care at the center.
Why we need help starting anew
Starting a separate school means beginning the applicable approval processes again and pursuing the accreditation appropriate to our programs. We cannot simply assume that the new school inherits AIS’s status. This work takes time, preparation, and money.
We are asking our close family and friends to contribute whatever they can to help us establish this new venture. The funds will help cover the approval and accreditation work we need to pursue, along with the essential startup work required to prepare the school to serve learners.
This campaign is for the Academy of Therapeutic Sciences, our new venture. Contributions do not provide ownership or a financial return.
What we aim to offer
We want to turn what we have learned into education that helps people prepare thoughtfully for this field. Our proposed introductory collection explores psychedelic care through history, foundational care concepts, ethics, cultural and spiritual considerations, and career exploration.
The intention is to help learners ask informed questions and evaluate further education. These short courses are not a substitute for professional training or authorization to practice.
How the funds will be used
Our priorities are the approval and accreditation work appropriate to the new school, essential launch preparations, and fulfillment of any educational rewards offered to contributors. We want family and friends to understand what their support helps make possible. Here is a snapshot of how the funds will be used:
- Colorado application for DORA Accreditation: $10,000
- New Mexico application for DOH Accreditation: Est. $6,000
- Marketing Budget for Advertising: Est. $6,000
- Continuing Education Unit Provider Application: $1,500-$3,500
Thank you for helping us start anew
Asking for help is not easy, especially after a loss like this. But I still believe in the value of this work, and I believe in the people who are moving forward with me.
If you are able to contribute, thank you. If you cannot, your encouragement means a great deal, and sharing this appeal with someone who may connect with its purpose is another way to help.
Thank you for being part of our lives and for considering a role in this new beginning. We are ready to take what we have learned and build something we can be proud of together.

What is psilocybin-assisted therapy?
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring compound found in certain
mushrooms. In psilocybin-assisted therapy, a carefully screened adult
takes psilocybin in a safe, supervised setting with trained
professionals who support them before, during, and after the
experience. This care has three parts: preparation, the session
itself, and integration, where the person makes sense of the
experience and carries its insights into daily life. Research has
explored its promise for conditions such as treatment-resistant
depression, post-traumatic stress, substance use disorders, and
distress at the end of life.
Is this legal?
Yes, in a growing number of states that have created regulated
programs. Oregon and Colorado already license facilitators to provide
psilocybin services in approved settings. In 2025, New Mexico passed
the Medical Psilocybin Act, which creates a state program for
qualified patients with conditions such as treatment-resistant
depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, and end-of-life care. The
New Mexico Department of Health is now finalizing its rules, including
the standards facilitators and their training programs must meet.
Outside these regulated programs, psilocybin is still illegal, so
well-trained, properly certified professionals are essential.
Why do facilitators need specialized training?
Supporting someone through a psilocybin experience calls for
real skill. Facilitators need to understand safety and screening, the
science of psilocybin, ethics and informed consent, trauma-informed
care, cultural humility, and how to respond calmly when an experience
becomes difficult. States that regulate this work require facilitators
to finish an approved education program before they can be certified.
New Mexico's proposed standards call for classroom learning, in-person
instruction, simulated practice, and supervised hands-on experience.
Strong training protects patients, and it also protects the
credibility of this emerging field.
What will the Academy of Therapeutic Sciences offer?
The Academy of Therapeutic Sciences is a new school that will
prepare facilitators to meet New Mexico's standards for
psilocybin-assisted therapy. Our founding team brings years of
experience designing and teaching facilitator training, plus deep
backgrounds in higher education, curriculum design, and program
operations. We're proud to be the exclusive training partner of the
New Mexico Counseling Association, which gives counselors a trusted
path into this work. We'll apply for state approval as soon as the
Department of Health opens applications, and we'll announce program
dates once that process begins.
How will my contribution be used?
Your gift helps us cover the real costs of starting a new school
the right way. That includes building our curriculum to state
standards, paying state application and independent evaluation fees,
securing space for in-person instruction, and setting up the systems
students need to learn and succeed. Every contribution, whatever its
size, brings us closer to training the skilled, ethical facilitators
this field depends on. Thank you for believing in us as we begin again.
Which states is ATS targeting to offer accredited certificate programs?
Colorado and New Mexico in 2027
We will expand to other states such as NY, MA, MI, TX, CT as they roll out their psychedelic assisted therapy programs in the near future. We are only fundraising for NM and CO with this campaign.
