Heart2Hands – Association for Community Action

Heart2Hands is a grassroots community initiative rooted in South Hazelton, BC.

Our work is based on connection, skill-sharing, and practical support—using what we already have to strengthen our community from the inside out.

Our projects grow across a few key areas:

Animal care & community safety

We support dogs and the people who care for them through initiatives like the community dog freezer, emergency food support, and hands-on learning such as dog first aid and CPR training. These efforts help reduce preventable emergencies and give people the confidence to care for animals locally.

Food recovery & redistribution

Through food rescue and recovery initiatives, we help redirect surplus food back into the community. This supports people facing food insecurity while reducing waste and reinforcing mutual aid networks.

Art, creativity & hands-on learning

Art is an important part of Heart2Hands—not as something distant or elite, but as a practical, shared experience. Through creative projects, workshops, and community-led making, we explore learning through doing, expression, and collaboration.

Skill-sharing & community education

From first aid training to creative and practical workshops, we create spaces where people—youth included—can learn skills that stay with them for life. These skills build confidence, independence, and stronger relationships within the community.
