- Help Bring Dog First Aid Training to Hazelton
- My name is Aleksandra, and I’m part of a small northern community where dogs are family — companions, protectors, working partners, and friends.
- Living in a remote area means that veterinary care can be far away, but it’s not only about distance.
- It’s also about cost and access. Many families can’t always afford to rush a dog to the vet for every cut, injury, or emergency — even when early care could prevent something small from becoming serious.
- Over the past months, I asked locally if people would be interested in a Dog First Aid course, and the response was immediate and strong.
- It showed a real need — and a real desire — for practical knowledge that people can use at home and in the field, when help isn’t immediately available.
- To bring a certified instructor to Hazelton, a minimum group size of 35 participants is required, with a total cost of approximately $6,000.
- Our goal is to raise funds so 35 community members can receive this training free of charge — including youth aged 12 and up — making the course accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to attend.
- This project is more than a course.
- It’s about building a shared base of first aid skills in the community — a circle of 35 trained individuals who can support one another, respond calmly in emergencies, and help dogs sooner, before situations escalate.
- It’s also an opportunity for youth to discover new interests and potential career paths related to animal care, safety, and wellbeing, while strengthening connections between people who care deeply about animals and their community.
- We are combining this fundraiser with grant applications and future community events, but every contribution helps move this project closer to reality.
- If you feel called to support this effort, you can help by donating or sharing this page.
- Every gesture — big or small — helps build a safer, more connected community for both people and dogs. 💛
