How did Compassion Care get started?

My name is Nick and Yashir one day about 8 years ago messaged me from his home in Pakistan. I didn't know him but he found me through my first pastor, Lin Perry. I started following Yashirs FB page and saw that he was very active in evangelism going to various cities in Pakistan handing out bibles and bible tracts that lead people to Christ. Being a Muslim nation and having only about 2% Christians there is a large amount of persecution towards Christians that takes place there. At one point Yashir told me to pray for him because he was being lead by the Lord to a city where not far away another Christian evangelist was killed.

Seeing and observing Yashirs great courage compelled me to support his work financially so I began purchasing bibles and gospel materials for him to hand out. Here in the US many of us live very comfortable christian lives where the extent of our persecution might be getting called a bad word or something like that. To see others willing to die for the gospels sake really shook and challenged me.

One day Yashir saw some orphaned and poor kids living under a tarp hungry and without food. He messaged me and said Nick we must do something. I sent another donation to purchase food and resources to help with the great need there. Soon others saw our post and stories of the good work Yashir and I were teaming up and doing and then a number of other people wanted to help and give. To maintain a legal status of transpher of finances to Pakistan we had to start a non-profit and so Compassion Care International was started. The name is so relevant because it all started and continues to this day because someone saw the hurting and was compelled by compassion to bring love as a light into the darkness.

Now we have started three schools and serve over 300 children feeding them, educating them in English and bible stories. We purchase beds, clothing and other nessesities for the needs of the orphans that Yashir and his family have taken in. We have special Christmas celebration events where all the kids and their families are invited for free food, music and the kids perform with dance and song. Its so beautiful to see hope and life come back into the eyes of these children to poor to go into town for formal education.

Never under estimate amazing effect for good that you can make by just having compassion for someone. Like the story of the beach covered with starfish that had been washed ashore because of a great storm. There was a man who was picking them up and trowing them back into the ocean. Then another man approaches and ask, "What are you doing, with all these thousands of starfish its not going to matter." He replied, " Well it mattered to that one."

Its been said that we can't do everything but we can do something. If everyone in the world had this same heart think of the world changing impact it would have.
