A new life begins for many. The amazing work Yashir and the
Compassion Care team are doing in Pakistan is amazing. So many little
ones come to our schools and are transformed through education, love
and kindness.
God is introduced to many for the first time as they learn about
how God Himself came to earth in the form of a man Jesus Christ and
how He so loved the world. The kids are never the same. Many will be
water baptized soon, a washing away of their past to new life in our
resurrected Christ who empowers them with hope for life.
Jan and I recently went on a short trip to the ocean near Santa
Cruz, California and flew an old kite I had on the beach. Letting out
the string and directing it facing the wind it went up and soared so
fast. Everyone around watching it sour. We all need people who will
just give us a chance and invest in us, help let out our kite string
and begin to soar on the wind.
A brother who we've known for a number of years who recently
past was a great supporter of Compassion Care because he himself was
himself an orphan from behind the iron curtain (Russia)
I told
him about all the work we were doing through Compassion Care and he
fell in love with all the kids. His love was so great because someone
once decided to love him when he was young and forgotten so he wanted
to give back.
This is the way it should be. We should never live selfish lives
but kind and generous ones. The word tells us that Jesus was given the
oil of joy above all others because He poured His life even unto
death. We all do well to have this heart.
Joy comes to those who give not just financially but in and
through many other ways. Like spending quality time with broken and
hurting people. Cutting the neighbors grass for them because they're
disabled and cant get around as well as they used to. Acts of kindness
should flow like a river from us. The word tells us that Jesus went
about doing good, healing all that were sick and oppressed of the
Devil.
My mother was so generous and would feed all the neighborhood
kids even though we ourselves were poor and on welfare. becoming a
single mother due to a divorce she had to work at a retirement home to
support all us kids but she also gave out love and laughter to so many
of the forgotten elderly grandmas and grandpas there. She told us kids
how sad it was when families would just drop them off only to forget
them there.
