Historical review.

Pana Pana (Solidaridad, due to its meaning in the Miskita language) was founded in November 1991 by young professionals with the aim of supporting the development of the indigenous communities of the RACCN that returned to their lands after the war in the decade of 1980. It is established as a non-profit institution and among its associates since its foundation and to date, there must be representation of all ethnic groups in the region; Miskitos, Afro-descendants, Mestizos and Mayagnas.

These young people were established with the objective of working with two principles; honesty and fight to reduce paternalism, a factor in the underdevelopment of the Caribbean region.
When starting operations, it did so by supporting the improvement of agricultural production and forest use in the communities of the upper middle basin of the Coco River and the block known as Tasba Raya, also of Waspam, soon international organizations placed their trust in Pana Pana and allowed financing for larger projects and covering more communities, extending down to the Rio Coco, the plains of Puerto Cabezas and Tasba Pri.

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF for its acronym in English), has financed Pana Pana since 1995 to date with different projects, this foundation among its aid components provides a fund for evolving loans, this is how Pana Pana ventures into the area of Microcredits, today it is the most solid microfinance institution in the region, with its headquarters in Puerto Cabezas and branches in Waspam, Rosita and Managua, serving entrepreneurs from rural communities and the urban population of these municipalities.

Currently Pana Pana, has two lines of work; the microfinance area where they serve entrepreneurs, preferably the poor and women heads of households with credits for agricultural production, fishing, businesses or housing improvement and the non-financial area that bears the name of the Human Development Program with a Sustainable Life Improvement Approach that It is the one that seeks financing to carry out development projects.
