OUR STORY:
Our collective came together through a shared passion for learning and creating. It all started in Caitlin’s garage—once a personal print shop—where we met monthly in 2022, exploring letterpress, block printing, sign painting, and DIY bookmaking.
As excitement grew, so did the question: How can we share this with the wider community? We took our proofing press on the road, introducing people to the magic of print. The response was overwhelming—people wanted a space for print arts.
By summer 2024, we got serious: meetings, paperwork, and nonprofit filings. The biggest challenge? Finding a sustainable space. Then, an opportunity arose—a small, affordable shop became available. After many discussions, we took the leap. On March 1, 2025, we signed our first lease at 905 W Warren St.
Renovations have been thrilling but costly, with the community stepping up to help—donating time, skills, and support. Boise is hungry for a creative space, and Open Letter Collective is here to meet that need.
Now, we need help securing our future. Funds for renovations are gone, and rent is fast approaching. We dream of an inclusive, accessible, and artist-driven space. With community support, we can build a place where everyone belongs.
Perks
Become part of Open Letter Collective history! Your name will be featured in our studio as origami in a collective art installation, plus you'll be invited to an exclusive event. Your name will hang in our front window and greet the community at the doorstep.
Open Letter Collective was founded on the principles of accessibility and liberation. There is no us without you, and we mean ALL of you. This fund goes toward improving accessibility in many ways, from PPE, to air quality, to increased access and amenities. We understand the importance of creating spaces that can physically hold us all safely and securely. Along with air purification devices, your donation goes directly toward our goal to debut a fully redesigned ADA accessible bathroom in 2025.
This community space wouldn’t be possible without your support. Your name will be hand painted onto our newly constructed arched workshop space by Black Cat Sign Co. Knowledge will pass freely under your name for years to come and will provide comfort from above through the trials and errors of the learning process. We expect many new and seasoned artists to gain wisdom and connection under this arch of names.

A “riso” printer is a special kind of printer. It looks like a photocopier, but acts more like a screenprint, using vibrant soy-based inks and stencils to give your art prints a one of a kind look and feel. The Treasure Valley is currently in need of a community accessible risograph, as they are hard to come by and are not offered in the region. Your donation would fill this gap and solve this problem! Full donation will cover the whole setup to begin printing, from machine to ink drums, and expected troubleshooting.
