This April I will be going to Viet Nam as part of an intergenerational delegation with the National Council of Elders, observing the 50th Anniversary of the Reunification of Viet Nam/end of the war against Viet Nam, and I need your help to get there!
Growing up I was politicized at a very young age, and by the time I was 14 I was organizing protests against the second U.S. invasion of Iraq, which is in the continuum of resistance to U.S. militarism globally. Since then I've grown and continued as a community organizer, and am honored for the opportunity to continue in the legacy of international exchange, witness, solidarity, and transformation post-war.
Your support will help me to cover the cost of the flight, lodging, food, and in country travel for the two weeks I'll be there. I'm looking forward to bringing back what I learn to my communities in the form of report-backs, articles, and other modes of reflection and sharing. Fund an Intergenerational Delegation going to Viet Nam in observance of the 50th Anniversary of the Reunification of Viet Nam/end of the US war on Viet Nam
April 30th, 2025 marks 50 years since the end of the U.S. war against Viet Nam, and the Reunification of North and South Viet Nam. This April the National Council of Elders (NCOE) is organizing an intergenerational delegation as guests of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organization( VUFO).
Over the course of two weeks the group will travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, where they will learn about people-to-people diplomacy as practiced by Viet Nam, witness the legacy of U.S. militarism globally, meet with young people as well as Elders to exchange ideas, histories, and (re)build towards futures rooted in cultures of peace. Our trip will culminate on April 30, 2025 at the national celebrations of the Reunification of Viet Nam. We are committed to the after of our trip, bringing report backs to our communities, publishing articles, and hopefully even a webinar live from Ho Chi Minh City!
To make our trip accessible for this intergenerational delegation, we are asking for your support to meet our collective goal. Your support will go towards making this trip accessible to all delegates, and supporting the long term commitment for peace, justice, and liberation in our lifetime.
What we've done
Our delegation is made up of delegates from across the U.S., including Vieques, Puerto Rico; Elders involved with the U.S. anti-war movement, the Black Freedom movement and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), anti-militarism and community resilience, and the labor movement. Our full delegation is comprised of people of multiple generations working in a cross-section of movement areas, winning campaigns, feeding people, combating white supremacy, visioning and building justice filled worlds. In other words, we are envisioning and building the new world that’s possible while continuing to fight the systems of oppression within the current, crumbling one. Supporting this delegation is an investment in the vision for a new world, a commitment to reparative relationship, and intergenerational exchange and learning.
How funds will be used
The full cost per delegate will range from $3,500 to $5,000, depending on folks’ departure cities and time of ticket purchase. The costs per delegate include travel fees to and from Viet Nam, travel within the country, lodging for two weeks, programs, and some meals. While costs will vary per person, we are committed to fundraising as a collective for collective cost.

— including financial and physical considerations — and help sustain
the long-term work toward peace, justice, and liberation in our
lifetime.
