The Lifeboat Academy at Spalding Valley Farm
Hello all! We're the crew of the Lifeboat Academy, currently located at Spalding Valley Farm on S,DÁYES / Pender Island, BC. The Lifeboat Academy offers both onsite and online learning and support around building "lifeboats," or place-based resilience networks with the practical skills necessary to face an uncertain future and insecure supply chains . We operate on a pay-it-forward, gift economy model, and we are reaching out for your support so that we can continue to provide valuable and critical resilience education to folks in our biosphere and beyond.

Reciprocity and balancing energy flow are some of our core values, and so we extend this opportunity to give back to Lifeboat Academy in exchange for the ways you may be benefiting from our community outreach, farmstays and education. Every single dollar donated helps us continue to operate as a model for resilience and regeneration, sharing what we are learning along the way.
What we offer
We host visitors who are eager to learn more about regenerative agriculture, effective collaboration, place-based living, and personal transformation and resilience. We also offer regular online events to support folks working to building resilience around the world. It costs money to offer these experiences both on the farm and online, and so we ask that folks who are receiving benefit from our various offerings contribute what you are able to help continue to make these opportunities available. We offer what we do freely because we never want cost to be a barrier to anyone.
Some of the expenses your contributions help with include:
- farm rent
- utilities
- food and other sundries
- cleaning supplies
- web design and hosting
- project management software
- helpdesk software
- calendly
- labor! We would love to get paid for all the work we are doing so that we can keep doing it.
This is a way to tangibly support on-the-ground social and environmental change work!
