The Lifeboat Academy at Spalding Valley Farm
Hello all! We're the crew of the Lifeboat Academy, located at Spalding Valley Farmastery on S,DÁYES / Pender Island, BC. The Lifeboat Academy offers both onsite and online learning and support around building "lifeboats," or place-based resilience networks with the practical skills necessary to face an uncertain future and insecure supply chains . We operate on a pay-it-forward, gift economy model, and we are reaching out for your support so that we can continue to provide valuable and critical resilience education to folks in our biosphere and beyond. This is a way to tangibly support on-the-ground social and environmental change work.
Help Us Fund 3 Gumboot Bootcamps This Summer!
The Gumboot Bootcamp is a 10-day immersive experience for up to ten Lifeboat Builders to collaborate and build resilience skills in a supportive community. It's hosted on-site at the Farmastery, a combination working farm, research center and education facility - a place for eco-edu-agro-tourism (EEAT).
The Bootcamp is offered on a pay-it-forward basis, so there's no upfront cost.
Each Bootcamp will have roughly 10 participants, and it costs $30 to feed each person per day. That adds up to $3,000 per Bootcamp. Whatever you're able to contribute offsets some of that cost and helps us pay other bills and utilities, too.
We depend on community support to be able to offer this
experience on a pay-it-forward basis. If you feel like you've
benefited from the work we’re doing and/or want to make it possible
for others to experience the Farmastery, we need your help.
