Hartford Opera Theater is dedicated to enriching the lives of all members of the Greater Hartford community by offering quality, innovative, and affordable opera.

The theme of our current season is Opera Without Borders.  To us, this means producing work that is about inclusion, freedom, communication, and giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. This season’s selections, Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land and David Wolfson’s The Faith Operas, reflect these principles.

The cornerstone of our mission has always been "opera for everyone". This season, Hartford Opera Theater is embracing the idea of Opera Without Borders and taking steps to make our performances even more accessible. Our production of The Tender Land will:

• Feature a deaf actress
• Use American Sign Language on stage. 
• Engage American Sign Language Interpreters to assist deaf patrons
• Utilize audio describe technology and a touch tour for blind patrons
• Project supertitles at all performances
