The Forest Gardeners Need Your Help

For nearly three decades, AndigenA Foundation—a non-profit organization from Venezuela—has stood on the front lines protecting the threatened wildlife of the Tropical Andes, including Andean bears, torrent ducks, and harlequin toads. But today, one of our region’s most iconic and crucial species needs you more than ever: The South American common tapir (Tapirus terrestris).

Since 1999, we have fought to protect these incredible "gardeners of the forest". In 2010, we turned our passion into reality by founding "La Casa del Tapir" (The Tapir’s House). What started as a shared dream between a Venezuelan geographer (Denis Alexander Torres) and a Colombian biologist (Sergio Sandoval Arenas) has blossomed into a regional conservation movement inspiring thousands of students and teachers across Latin America.

Our mission beats entirely with the heart and devotion of our volunteers. Yet, pure passion cannot fuel the trucks, print the educational materials, or keep our servers running. To reach the most vulnerable, forgotten corners where tapirs are fighting a losing battle to survive, we urgently need your financial support today.

Deep within Venezuela’s Waraira Repano National Park, a majestic giant is quietly fighting for survival. Though protected by law, the tapir faces relentless hunting and a devastating lack of resources for its protection. This park is one of their very last refuges in the Central Coastal Range—if we don't act now, they could disappear from this mountain forever.

We are La Casa del Tapir (by AndigenA Foundation), and in partnership with the Guarenas Repano Foundation, we refuse to let their story end here.
