Freida was found in a ditch on April 10th one mile from anywhere....a certain throw away kitty. She was emaciated and matted and weighed less than 2 lbs. We did not expect her to live. Freida proved us wrong.

With paper thin skin, unclosed growth plates, brittle bones, food storage disease, non-functioning liver, extremely high white blood cell count, anemia and much more Freida was a very sick full grown cat when she was rescued.

How she survived is God’s will but even now three months later Freida’s vets are perplexed as to a diagnosis. Test after test have supplied the vets with more questions than answers. Freida lives in downeast Maine with the grass roots organization who rescued her and travels regularly to her specialist at Tufts University in Massachusetts. Some of her issues are genetic and yet many more are caused from long term malnutrition. Her ongoing high white blood cell count the most worrisome currently.

Freida’s hair is slowly growing back and she has gained almost 1 lb. Although she tires easily we do catch her playing once in a while. Freida is happy. Even though she is still so sick she has good food, clean water, comfortable living conditions and love. Love from around the world.

We are preparing for Freida to continue to live with all her other kitty friends a Forgotten Felines of Maine foster home for a long time. Her medical bills have cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Each new test costs upwards of $1,000.
