"Wanting to be free. Wanting to be me. Trying to make people see. And accept the real me."
Did you know that 1 in 37 boys will be diagnosed with Autism? Autism is a development disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. Parents usually notice signs during the first three years of their child's life. These signs often develop gradually, though some children with autism experience worsening in their communication and social skills after reaching developmental milestone at a normal pace. My name is Eddie and I am a 28 year old Hispanic male that is part of an organization that treats children with autism. My passion to serve started when I was introduced to a Christian ministry at age 21, and eventually held the position as a Youth Director. I devoted my time to teach music, mentor and educate pre teens and teenagers. I had no idea what the condition "Autism" was until my mid 20's and I believe many people do not know about this condition until they have a family member diagnosed with Autisn I have an 11 year old nephew that suffers from this condition and since he was diagnosed, it has been a difficult situation for his family and himself. As a result of this situation I decided to devote my time and effort to treat this condition and raise awarness within the local community.
We are the National Aurtism Foundation, a 501 c(3) non-profit organization. Our goal is to provide therapy experiences to Autistic children and others who want to express themselves in a supportive, therapeutic and artistic environment. Art therapy is a treatment that uses art materials and the creative process to explore emotions, reduce anxiety, increase self esteem and resolve other psychological conflicts. Art therapy service offers an open paint workshop combined with weekly individual treatments with a licensed therapist. Common techniques used in therapy include: Painting, finger painting, scribbling, sculpting, drawing, legos, etc.
As treatment for autism is pricy, low income communities find it difficult to pay for treatment. With YOUR help these services will be completely free! Our donations will go towards expenses such as; Art Therapists, Art Instructor, and host school field trips throughout 2020. Every donation counts! Our children are the future of our country and we believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed regardless of their condition. We want to let the people know that they are not alone! I want to thank each and one of you for reading this and for your donation. If you would like more information about us please visit our social media platforms and website www.aurtism.org.
