Remember that time we had a great gym, and started up some boxing programs for at-risk troubled youth in the DTES? We had just started filling those sessions.  A couple of those teens would sometimes even stay for a late night session (a total of 4 hours) after their class ended. That's love.

Well then! Those young people, as well as all of the past Aprons For Gloves members, were heartbroken when our gym was destroyed in a fire.  Some of the young folks were asking right away when they would be able to start at a new gym.  Let's fix this. Here's what I have to offer. It involves tacos.

I will compete and fight (and win!) again this year in an amateur boxing match, after I fundraise $2000. There's something in this for you though! And if you are still reading.....

If you donate $100 or more, I will gleefully allow you to throw a soft-shell mayonnaise taco at my head, while I yell "You are the greatest taco-pitcher that ever lived!", and you can film it. Sounds silly, but hey, THAT'S how important this is to me.  I mean it. You can't just surprise me with it though, and you will have to be standing approximately 5 feet away from my head.  And don't sneak sharp meats in there, 'cause that's mean.

Founded in 2012, Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association is a non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing. Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth. The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities.
