Dear Friends and Family,
Hello and best wishes to you from the Women Refugees Advocacy Project group.
We’re writing today to ask for your help. The war against Ukraine is escalating and our Ukrainian women‘s team have reached out to us asking for critical support.
"Today the needs are growing again, and we simply cannot cope alone.” *
We learned from Maria and Ella, two of the directors of the Democracy Development Centre NGO, that the stress of the escalating bombardment, lack of sleep and nutrition, and diminishing resources, are causing the health of the women we support to deteriorate. If you can help, our care is urgently needed.
These women respond on the ground to the impact of the war, however it manifests. We know that receiving our no-strings attached funds lifts their spirits. It enables them to contribute staples that sometimes no other agency provides, such as car repairs, medications, and potable water.
They also turn their attention to solving problems through innovative projects.
Earlier this year, with funds sent from us - their Canadian friends - they found a way to help a whole village by purchasing a goat-milking machine. Now a village elder milks all the village goats, providing milk to the children first, then distributing the rest as needed.
As the Russians advance and try to consolidate more and more Ukrainian land, Maria’s group rented a bus and courageously drove into an occupied area. On dangerous roads they travelled back and forth, rescuing two hundred elderly women.
Recently Russia has begun sending bombs disguised as flowers, floating them downstream into Ukrainian territory. The flower-bombs lodge against river banks where children pick them up, resulting in horrific injuries. By helping us raise funds today, you could help Maria and her team care for the injured and warn other Ukrainians of this monstrous tactic.
One hundred percent of our contributions will go directly to Ella and Maria and their courageous team working inside Ukraine. No gift is too large or too small. And donors who wish to contribute directly through WRAP can e-transfer funds to: wrapadvocate@icloud.com
If you are unable to contribute online at this time, we warmly invite you to come to the Princeton Pub fundraiser that we’ll be holding mid-campaign. Tickets are only twenty dollars and every penny helps. We’d love to see you there!
with love and solidarity,
Leanne, Barbara, Liz, Mo, Leslie, Peggy, and Chris
