Wanawake Imara. Resilient Communities.
The Imara Initiative is a locally grounded women’s resilience and leadership initiative launching in Arusha, Tanzania.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 to deliver Phase 1: three intensive cohorts serving 60 women between October 2026 and March 2027.
Each cohort will bring together 20 women for a culturally responsive program focused on emotional resilience, confidence, personal safety, dignity and community connection.
But this initiative is designed to go beyond the women participating in the first three cohorts.
Strength That Carries Forward
Imara means strong, firm and steadfast in Swahili.
The Imara Initiative was created to support women in reconnecting with their strength, rebuilding confidence and agency, and developing the tools to become leaders within their families and communities.
Rather than approaching women as passive recipients of assistance, Imara recognizes their existing strength, knowledge and leadership potential.
Participants will build practical skills while forming supportive relationships with other women who understand their experiences and share their commitment to creating stronger communities.
Phase 1: Supporting 60 Women in Arusha
Phase 1 will include:
- Three cohorts of 20 women
- 60 women supported in total
- Programs delivered in Arusha, Tanzania
- Cohort One: October 2026
- Cohort Two: January 2027
- Cohort Three: February/March 2027
The $75,000 campaign goal will support all three cohorts, including program delivery, participant access, local coordination, evaluation and preparation for Phase 2.
A contribution of $25,000 can fully fund one complete cohort of 20 women.
Designed to Continue Beyond the Room
From each cohort, women demonstrating readiness and community leadership potential will be invited to advance into Phase 2: a train-the-trainer pathway.
This next phase will prepare local women to help carry the program forward, expanding access while building sustainable, locally led capacity.
The long-term vision is not simply to deliver a program in Tanzania. It is to help establish a growing network of resilient women equipped to support and lead others within their own communities.
A Collaborative Initiative
The Imara Initiative brings together complementary local and international experience through Aurora Impact Foundation, RACAS Foundation and Martial Arts for Justice, using the Enhanced Resilience Training™ methodology.
The initiative is grounded in collaboration, cultural responsiveness and the belief that sustainable impact must ultimately be led within the communities it serves.
Help Us Launch Phase 1
Your contribution will help bring the first three cohorts together and establish the foundation for a longer-term, locally led pathway.
Whether you contribute, sponsor a cohort or share this campaign with others, you are helping women strengthen their confidence, dignity, agency and capacity to lead.
Invest in women today—and in the local leaders who will carry this work forward.
