This is my aunt and I in Lebanon this past summer

Hi ! My name is Aliya, and as a proud member of the Lebanese diaspora, it breaks my heart to see the devastation unfolding in my homeland. Already Lebanon had the highest number of refugees per capita in the world, but over the course of just two weeks, over 1 million people have been displaced, 30,000 are missing, 10,000 injured, and more than 2,000 have tragically lost their lives. 

These families—mothers, fathers, children—have lost everything. They’ve been forced from their homes due to the war, with nowhere to turn for basic needs like shelter, food, and safety. The country’s infrastructure is overwhelmed, and countless displaced Lebanese citizens are living in extreme conditions, vulnerable and uncertain about their futures.

Cedars for Care, a lebanese NGO run by my aunt, Iffat Iddriss, has been tirelessly working on the ground in Lebanon to provide displaced families with food, housing, and support. They in work in collaboration with another NGO piloted by my aunt, Operation Big Blue. Collectively, their mission is to bring immediate relief to those who have been uprooted by war, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity. The Lebanese people have always shown resilience in the face of hardship, and now, more than ever, they need our support to continue this legacy of strength and perseverance. Cedars for Care has already made a significant impact, having distributed upwards of 54,000 meals, provided tents and furniture, and even set up classrooms in the camps since the beginning of the war.

While Cedars for Care has done tremendous work, the need far exceeds their capacity. The sheer number of displaced families is overwhelming, and without more resources, they won’t be able to continue providing the vital services these people need to survive. This is where you come in.
