Bikes4Ukraine.org è un'organizzazione no-profit danese che raccoglie donazioni per inviare biciclette usate dall'Europa occidentale alle città ucraine, dove i cittadini ne hanno un disperato bisogno. La bicicletta, nella sua semplicità, è uno strumento vitale nelle aree rurali e urbane bombardate, per aiutare la gente a procurarsi cibo, medicine e aiuti umanitari, oltre che per il trasporto verso cliniche e scuole.
La rete dei ciclisti di Milano, con il patrocinio del comune, e l'aiuto di molti cittadini ha raccolto donazioni di biciclette per Bikes4Ukraine.org ed ora è necessario organizzare un crowdfunding per il trasporto delle biciclette a Kiev - e poi in molte città e paesi ucraini.
Speriamo che gli italiani possano aiutarci a realizzarlo con qualsiasi donazione finanziaria. Se vi piacciono le biciclette e le città a misura di bicicletta e volete aiutare l'Ucraina nel modo più umano possibile, donate oggi stesso affinché le biciclette dei milanesi possano avere una nuova vita in Ucraina.
L'invasione dell'Ucraina continua e le sfide che la popolazione deve affrontare sono molte. C'è una crisi del gas, le auto sono state distrutte o mandate al fronte, il trasporto pubblico è stato distrutto in molti luoghi e con l'attuale bombardamento delle infrastrutture energetiche, i tram e i filobus elettrici non sono affidabili.
Perché l'Ucraina ha bisogno di biciclette usate?
In innumerevoli città ucraine che sono state bombardate, occupate e sono generalmente in rovina, la gente ha problemi con la mobilità urbana di base.
- Non c'è trasporto pubblico: I russi hanno distrutto autobus e filobus, oppure l'esercito ucraino li usa per trasportare le truppe. Nelle zone rurali, la gente ha bisogno di biciclette per spostarsi dai paesi alle città e accedere a negozi, farmacie o medici. Nelle città, gli abitanti dei quartieri bombardati hanno bisogno di acqua, cibo, medicine e aiuti umanitari.
- Strade distrutte: Molte strade, sia nelle zone rurali che nelle città, sono state distrutte dai bombardamenti o dai veicoli militari, rendendo impossibile percorrerle. Una bicicletta può percorrerle molto più facilmente.
- Carenza di benzina: In Ucraina c'è carenza di carburante. Inoltre, l'esercito ucraino ha bisogno della poca benzina disponibile per difendere il Paese.
- Problemi di spedizione: A causa dei problemi di spedizione e dalla difficoltà di entrare e uscire dall'Ucraina, anche se riuscissero a procurarsi le biciclette, non sarebbero in grado di portarle nel Paese. Abbiamo invece stabilito delle rotte logistiche dall'Europa a Lviv.
- Sfollati interni: Nella città di Lviv ci sono circa 150.000 rifugiati interni, molti dei quali vivono in campi profughi. Hanno bisogno di un modo per spostarsi: al supermercato, dal medico, a scuola, ai colloqui di lavoro, ecc. Con i nostri colleghi ucraini, abbiamo creato un sistema di bike-sharing nei campi profughi della città, con le biciclette che portate da noi e donate dagli altri paesi.
Le biciclette sono un'ancora di salvezza
Le biciclette sono una vera e propria ancora di salvezza per molte persone. Le nostre biciclette sono utilizzate dagli operatori sociali e dalle ONG del Paese, per consegnare cibo, medicine e forniture umanitarie ai cittadini vulnerabili nelle aree non occupate di tutto il Paese. Le biciclette possono salvare vite umane e contribuire a rendere più facile la vita quotidiana di molti cittadini ucraini. Non c'è limite al numero di biciclette di cui l'Ucraina ha bisogno
Dal luglio 2022, abbiamo consegnato oltre 900 biciclette da Copenaghen, Berlino, Gent e Budapest a più di 30 città e paesi dell'Ucraina. Ogni singola bicicletta viene utilizzata quotidianamente per consegnare cibo, acqua, aiuti umanitari e medicine ai cittadini vulnerabili nelle aree de-occupate, comprese quelle ancora bombardate dalla Russia. Ora abbiamo ricevuto appelli da decine di altre città che hanno un disperato bisogno di biciclette: Lviv, Chernihiv, Bucha, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Kharkiv - e l'elenco continua. Ci sarà bisogno di biciclette anche in futuro. Ci piace l'idea di "Un milione di biciclette per l'Ucraina", ma ci vorrà un po' di lavoro e di raccolta fondi. :-)

The People of Ukraine Urgently Need Thousands of Bikes
Bikes4Ukraine.org is a Danish non-profit that has been fundraising financial donations in order to send used bikes from Western Europe to Ukrainian cities and towns, where they are veritable lifelines for citizens. The humble bicycle is a vital tool in bombed rural and urban areas, helping people get food, medicine and humanitarian aid, as well as transport to clinics and schools. Why Does Ukraine Need Used Bikes?
In countless Ukrainian cities and towns that were bombed, occupied and are generally in ruins, people have issues with basic urban mobility.
Destroyed Roads Many roads, both in rural areas and in cities, have been destroyed by shelling or by military vehicles, making it impossible to drive on. A bicycle can navigate them much more easily and bikes are easy to repair. They are reliable and resilient and adaptable. |
Lack of Transport The Russians destroyed buses and trolleybuses, or the Ukrainian Army uses them to transport troops. In rural areas, people need bicycles to get from towns to cities to access shops, pharmacies or doctors. In cities, people in bombed-out neighborhoods need to get water, food, medicine and humanitarian aid. |
High Gas Prices & Fewer Cars Gas prices fluctuate wildly. Gas is almost as expensive in Ukraine as in the Nordic countries. Also, the gas needs of the Ukrainian Army is a priority. Many cars were destroyed or sent for use on the front lines. |
Internally Displaced Persons In many cities like Lviv, there are many refugees. They left everything behind when they left their homes and a bike is essential to their mobility to the supermarket, doctor, school, job interviews, etc. With our Ukrainian colleagues, we have set up a bike-sharing system in refugee camps. |
Bicycle are Lifelines
Our bikes are a veritable lifeline for many people. Our bikes are used by social workers and volunteers from NGOs in over 35 cities and towns in Ukraine. They are used to deliver food, medicine and humanitarian supplies to vulnerable citizens in the most devasted areas. Bikes can save lives and help make daily life easier for many citizens in Ukraine. No Upper Limit to How Many Bikes Ukraine Needs
Since July 2022, we have delivered over 900 bikes from Copenhagen, Berlin, Gent and Budapest to over 35 cities and towns in Ukraine. Every single bike is in use daily to deliver food, water, humanitarian aid and medicine to vulnerable citizens in de-occupied areas - including those that are still being shelled by Russia. We now have received appeals from dozens of more cities that desperately need bikes: Lviv, Chernihiv, Bucha, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Kharkiv - and the list goes on. There will be a need for bikes well into the future.
