Traditional Hand-Carved Shrine - Main Hall
We invite you to sponsor the magnificent hand-carved shrine that will serve as the main shrine in the Sakya Temple of Peace. This traditional wooden structure, measures an impressive 18 feet high by 32 feet wide.
You can view the video above that shows the master artisans in Nepal currently working on it.
The shrine will house the magnificent statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, Green Tara and Manjushri, along with the Five Founding Sakya Masters. These statues will be a drawcard for people all over to come and experience a Tibetan Buddhist temple here in Australia!
The craftsmanship involved in making this shrine represents a living tradition of religious art that has been preserved through generations of skilled woodcarvers. Each carved element and painted surface incorporates symbolic meaning.
Your contribution toward the $45,000 AUD cost of this shrine will help establish the foundation for all Dharma activities that will occur within the Sakya Temple of Peace for generations to come.
The Sakya Temple of Peace is currently being built in Kambah, Canberra. This will be a new Tibetan Buddhist temple in the nation's capital and a beacon of peace, kindness and understanding for Australia and the world.
We are so close to realising this dream, but we need your help!
To complete the project on time in only six months by September 2025, we need to raise $500,000 by 31 May 2025.
