The Tibetan Buddhist Society of Canberra is currently building the Sakya Temple of Peace in Kambah, Canberra. It has long been a wish of the Society to have a temple of its own in the heart of Canberra.
Most of the funds for the temple have been raised from many years of fundraising, as well as the hard work and dedication of Lama Choedak Rinpoche in teaching and sharing the precious Buddhist teachings for over 40 years in Australia and overseas.
Construction began in early 2024, with the groundwork all laid, the walls of the gompa built, the steel frames and beams raised and the rest of the walls being built. We are so close to realising this dream, but we need your help! Due to the rising cost of materials and transport, the construction costs have gone over budget.
Right now we are looking for people to help complete the temple by sponsoring a window or door. By sponsoring a Temple window or door, you will be helping others to meet the precious teachings of the Buddha and open the door to enlightenment for them!

We are looking for members and friends to sponsor a window, large or small, which will provide many with the opportunity to look into the sacred teachings of the Buddha, and the Tibetan culture that has preserved it for thousands of years.
There are many windows planned in the new Sakya Temple of Peace; each one allowing light to be shined on the precious teachings of the Buddha and be shared with many people.

There are smaller windows for the laundry and bathrooms (4), larger windows around the perimeter of the building (14), as well as small (12) and large (3) windows allowing natural light into the gompa.
