In Buddhist tradition, stupas are among the most powerful symbols of awakened consciousness. Originally built to house sacred relics, these structures evolved into architectural representations of the Buddha's enlightenment path. Each element of a stupa represents specific aspects of spiritual development, creating a three-dimensional mandala that practitioners can physically circumambulate.
The stupa topper you are invited to sponsor contains layers of profound symbolism:
- The thirteen golden rings represent the ten bodhisattva levels (bhumis) of the Mahayana path and the three higher stages of Vajrayana realization, symbolizing the complete journey to enlightenment

The Sakya Temple of Peace is currently being built in Kambah, Canberra. This will be a new Tibetan Buddhist temple in the nation's capital and a beacon of peace, kindness and understanding for Australia and the world.
