To establish and maintain a Domesticated Pet Sanctuary for
senior pets and those with other risk factors where without such a
facility, the pets' lives and/or quality of life would be in jeopardy.
To provide additional services from time to time. related to animal rescue and care, in such manner and at such time, as determined by the foundation's board of directors.
Such additional services may include, but are not limited to;

An example of just some of what we do . . .
Miracle's Story:
This is the story of Miracle (aka Wild Thing) a
young male kitty 6 to 7 weeks old currently in our care at our
foundations ICU facility.
Rescued late on on Saturday October 15th, 2016 by Sheila, then brought to our rescue center early Sunday morning the following day, October 16th, 2016.
This is one Kitty Tale you will want to read and follow.
This 6 week old kitty survived the wild outdoors and the 2 mile journey from a local service road that borders I-30 in Garland, TX, where it was initially spotted by Sheila, to her home 2 miles away. The kitty had somehow gotten under her vehicle where Sheila lost sight of it.
Thinking that the kitty had run off, but not sure, Sheila slowly drove the 2 miles to her home. After arriving home, Sheila once again spotted the kitty under her vehicle. Before she could catch it, the kitty darted into the bushes.
It was finally caught in one our kitty traps two days later and
brought to us for rehab and much needed vet care. You can check in

Another example of just some of what we do . . .from May 14th, 2016
Hank and Dory's Story:
Two volunteer associates that work with the Furry Paws
Foundation, Inc., Bee and Courtney went to a Petco store on Saturday
5-14-16 where a rescue group was there holding a dog adoptions
event.
The rescue group had been given 2 little kittens that were
around 6-8 weeks old. The rescue group was desperately trying to
find somewhere for the two kittens to go.
Our associates, Bee and Courtney said "hey why not."
However, before they took home the two kitties, a member of the
rescue group gave the kitties shots, dewormed them, gave them a bath
with Blue Dawn, and then soaked them in "Sentry Natural Flea
Spray".
Courtney asked if it was okay knowing how little the babies were and the woman said it was okay as its was all natural.
Courtney and Bee then proceeded to take the kitties home and
let them run around. and gave them the names of Hank and Dory.
A short time after arriving home, Courtney noticed that Hank was
VERY wobbly and off balance but let him spend a small amount of time
eating and getting adjusted.
After a bit, Courtney noticed his skin on his tummy and under
arms was very raw. It turns out the little guy had what appeared to
be chemical burns from the flea spray.
His sister, Dory, was not showing signs of a reaction to the
spray and seemed just fine.
It was presumed that Hank must have some extra sensitive skin
and/or is allergic to one or more chemicals used in the flea spray.
He was eating and drinking very well and loved to loved, but was in need of help.
Within hours, Bee and Courtney contacted the foundation
regarding Hank.
An action plane was then put into place with the foundations
advisory group being alerted and asked to assist with
recommendations for Hanks care.
In addition, an off duty vet tech plus the groups vet tech
advisor were consulted.
The action plan called for Dory, Hanks sister, to stay in foster
with Bee and Courtney while Hank's condition was being addressed.
Hank was immediately transferred to the foundations rescue ICU
center in Garland, TX where he began to receive ongoing special care
with regular visits to the foundations vet.
After his first visit the the foundations vet, it was determined
that Dory needed to join him at the foundations care facility to
address issues she may have which she did.
A few days later, Dory arrived at the foundation and began her treatments along with Hank.
On 5-26-16 Hank and Dory both were diagnosed with a number of internal/external parasites including Coccidia which requires them to be maintained in our isolation ward and in separate crates until cleared by the vet. Hank was underweight for his age, being only 1.3 lbs while Dory weighed in at 2.3 lbs. Both were put on a controlled diet to get them healthy and to put some weight on Hank that he needed. Both received a daily dose of Albon along with special baths to treat external conditions, and to help Hank's chemical burns to heal. They were both treated for Fleas by the vet, as well as ear mites. A course of treatment was laid out with scheduled followup vet visits.
On 6-7-16 Hank and Dory had an outstanding vet visit on the 7th. Both are putting on weight and doing well. Prince Hank's fur was starting to grow back and looking good. He and Princess Dory were now spending the day in the foundations 4' x 12' Day Room where they could run and play together as kittens should getting loads of exercise in a cage free environment.
On 6-12-16 Prince Hank and Princess Dory (aka The Young Royals) finished all of the medications and treatments with one last vet check set for 6-21-16.
On 6-22-16 The young royals were discharged from our urgent care
quarantine area and from our vet. They were ready to move on with
their lives and move into the foundations cage free 13' x 22' Arts
Center that has a huge Bay Window and spend time with Lady Carol
receiving daily social and living skills lessons in anticipation of
moving on to a forever home and family.
All vet tests were negative including Feline Leuk/FIV and
Intestinal Parasite Exam. Prince Hanks fur was doing great and both
checked negative under black light for external parasites and
related issues. Each was given 1 more dose of Revolution then
discharged by our vet.
Princess Dory's weight was at 4.3 lbs, up from 2.3 lbs a month earlier. Prince Hank's weight was 3.1 lbs, up from 1.3 lbs a month earlier. Both have been removed from medical quarantine at the foundation. However, they remained in the Arts Center to continue receiving social skills lessons with Lady Carol and to just being kittens in their now spacious suite that comes complete with a huge bay window, a huge cat tree with loads and loads of toys and things to do.
On 6-28-16 it was decided that the young royals would stay at the foundations Garland location to complete their medical needs including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and micro chipping. In addition they will continue developing their socialization skills and other related skills such as supervised play dates with the older royals in the arts center. And just being spoiling them rotten.
On 7-11-16 Prince Hank and Princess Dory received appointment
for 7-20-16 with TCAP http://www.texasforthem.org/ in Garland for
spay/neuter surgery, 1st round of vaccinations, plus Micro Chipping.
On 7-20-16 Surgery for Prince Hank and Princess Dory went
well.
That is until 7-25-16 when the foundation had to rush Princess
Dory the Lake Ray Hubbard Emergency Pet Care ER do to issues with
her spay surgery sutures.
She was admitted at 7:45pm on 7-25-16, and discharged at 2:00am
on 7-26-16 by Dr. Matt Cortez after undergoing an hour long surgery.
She was given a 50/50 chance of survival at the time of discharge.
Her sutures from the spay surgery had gone septic. She was returned
to the foundations ICU suite to begin the process of recovery where
she was would be closely 24/7 over the next few days by our staff
with regular followup visits to the foundations regular vet. Her
ER surgery costs alone came to $778.62.
On 7-27-16 Princess Dory had her first followup vet visit with
outstanding results. She was well on her way to full recovery. For
the next couple of weeks, she would be closely monitored by both her
vet and the ER Dr. who performed the life saving surgery back on the
26th. a bit after midnight on the 26th.
On 8-3-16 Princess Dory had an outstanding followup vet visit.
Princess Dory is cleared of having to wear her hospital gown and
released to rejoin the family on 8-6-16 if nothing new came up.
On 8-5-16 after 11 days in our ICU suite following her emergency surgery, Princess Dory was released and allowed to rejoin her brother Prince Hank, Squire Binx, Lady Pyewacket, and HRM, Sir Bentley in the main area of the foundations foster facility located at Funk Manor.
Prince Hank & Princess Dory as of 10/3/16 continue to be in foster care at Funk Manor and are doing marvelous. Your continued support of the foundation is greatly needed so that we can continue to give kitties like Hank & Dory, along with Squire Binx, Lady Pyewacket, and HRM, Sir Bentley, can have a 2nd chance at life.
