On Sunday, December 17, 2023, Gene Chambers and Friends cordially invite you to an unforgettable night of American Soul classics live from Costa Rica to benefit 7 career musicians (friends ranging in age from 54 to 84) who are facing serious health challenges: Felipe Contreras, Maria Vargas, Omar Guana, Rogelio Cisneros, Johnny Dixon, Wilkie Bolaños, and Donald Juárez. A myriad of debilitating illnesses—due to heart disease, cancer, kidney failure, and accidental injury—threaten to silence the voices of some of our most beloved musical creators.
Our aim is to fill in some of the gaps generated by lost income when a performing artist can no longer perform and must direct their primary resources (if any) to the restoration of their health.
There is no better person to lead the charge for his comrades in music than Central American music legend, Gene Chambers, a true "soul" survivor celebrating 50 years in music! Gene asserts that he does not have the cure for cancer or heart disease, etc. but....

Your generous donations will underwrite the cost of producing and broadcasting this event so that 70-75% of the ticket sales (in-person and live stream) will go directly to the musicians in need!
With your help, we aim to raise 5K. Should we exceed that amount (due to your generosity), our stretch goals include but are not limited to: extending a helping hand to musicians unknown to us but identified through this campaign, 2) supplying instruments to music programs at select schools in need, and 3) broadening the reach of the Music Heals campaign through a concert series and/or annual festival. As evidenced by all that is going on in the world, there is plenty that music can and must heal with the support of active and engaged communities.
For his lifelong dedication to music for over 50 years, the theater at the StarView (located in Barrio Otoya, Downtown San José) will be formally dedicated and renamed as the "Gene Chambers Sound Stage" on the night of the show. Under his direction, this space will not only be a world class performance venue but a central hub for education (music, health, and otherwise) and for musicians to connect, collaborate, and create!

The StarView pavillion is a cross between a Costa Rican cantina ("Bar La Linea") and a Hard Rock Cafe-style performance venue. With standing room only, it can be dance club for 350. For this special event, it will be transformed into an elegant supper club for a limited number of special guests (150).
The StarView is located in Barrio Otoya (del hospital Calderón Guardia 125m Oeste).

Aisha Michael is the co-founder of El Despertador, School Of Happiness, in Los Yoses, San José, Costa Rica. She is a body therapist with over 25 years of experience, who graduated in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Israel, was certified in Thai Massage in Chiang-Mai, Thailand and energy work in Pune, India.
Aisha's Ancestral massage incorporates traditional Chinese medicine, intentional Native American rituals, yoga stretches, in a sequence influenced by Thai massage. This pleasant yet powerful session of body therapy will take you to a state of deep relaxation, balance and serenity, on a mental, physical and emotional level.
This therapy takes place at the House of El Despertador in Los Yoses, San José, where Aisha invites you to disconnect from the stress of the outside world and reconnect with the peace of your inner world.
