Sacred Teaching Thrones: Seats of Dharma Transmission
We invite you to sponsor the two teaching thrones that will occupy a key position in the main shrine room of the Sakya Temple of Peace. These specially crafted seats, $5,000 each, represent more than furniture—they are traditional vessels that uphold the dignity of Buddhist teachings and their transmission.
These thrones serve a specific ceremonial function essential to authentic Buddhist practice. When qualified teachers present Dharma teachings, they sit upon these elevated seats not out of personal privilege, but to symbolize the elevated status of the teachings themselves. The physical height represents the profound respect afforded to the Buddha's wisdom as it continues to be transmitted through qualified lineage holders.
Crafted according to traditional specifications, each throne incorporates precise proportions and appropriate decorative elements that reflect their sacred function.
The presence of proper teaching thrones enables formal transmission of Buddhist teachings according to tradition. When visiting masters, including His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche and other lineage holders, visit our temple, these thrones will provide the appropriate setting for authentic dharma presentations in accordance with centuries of tradition.
Your sponsorship of one teaching throne at $5,000 establishes a direct connection with the transmission of Buddhist teachings at the Sakya Temple of Peace. By supporting these essential ceremonial furnishings, you help create the proper conditions for wisdom teachings to be shared with our community and ensure that traditional protocols for dharma transmission are properly maintained.
The Sakya Temple of Peace is almost finished being built in Kambah, Canberra. This will be a new Tibetan Buddhist temple in the nation's capital and a beacon of peace, kindness and understanding for Australia and the world.
We thank everyone for their support and generosity so far - we have raised over $350,000 since March 2025, which has enabled us to continue with the temple construction without delay.
We would like to reach our target of $500,000 so that we can finish the temple in full and open its doors for everyone.
