Rooney was adopted from our rescue only a month ago!  His mom, Martha, had met him when he first came into our rescue and she fell head over heels in love with him.  She filled out an application that was approved, and he moved in with her - first as a foster dog until he could be neutered - and then, as soon as possible, the adoption was completed and he became her forever dog!

Rooney is a puppy!  He's only about 8 months old and he is an absolute doll!

Yesterday evening she brought him to Bolton Veterinary Hospital - near where she lives - because he clearly was not well.  He was running a very high fever - 106.2 - and was having serious diarrhea and vomiting.

At Bolton, they started him on IV fluids to lower his fever.  An ultrasound showed some gas in his intestinal tract, but no foreign objects.  He was given antibiotics and kept overnight.  No blood work has been done yet, and there is, as of now, no diagnosis.  His temperature began to come down, but has now risen again to over 105.

Martha is worried about her baby!   She is also concerned about the rising costs.  The estimate from last night had a low estimate of $705 and a high estimate of $1227.30 - and that was basically only for maintenance care! He will be staying another night at Bolton, so the costs will be even higher.  As soon as we receive a revised estimate or invoice we will post it to this fundraiser as an update.

Tomorrow, Rooney will be transferred to the vet we use for our rescue dogs, Orange Veterinary Hospital in Orange, CT.  They know Rooney, having treated him and performed his neuter surgery when he was in our rescue, and we have every confidence that he will receive the best of care from the vet we know and trust.  ALL necessary care will be provided.

Although the costs at our vet are considerably lower than at any emergency hospital, care for a dog as sick as our boy Rooney is not inexpensive.  PLEASE - help Martha cover the costs of his care!  She cannot do this without us!  If everyone who reads this fundraiser will give a LITTLE, it will add up to a LOT.

And PLEASE keep Martha and Rooney in your thoughts and prayers.  She is desperately worried about her little boy!

ALL funds donated in this fundraiser will be paid directly to the medical care providers for Rooney's care.
