We didn't see this coming.
Brianna was attacked by an aggressive, unleashed dog while out on a (leashed) walk this afternoon. She is at an emergency clinic undergoing exploratory surgery. She has several puncture wounds to her legs and abdomen.
Brianna, Miss Brie, as her foster mom has come to know her as, had an unfortunate and seemingly preventable mishap tonight. Miss Brie was being walked on leash (she’s amazing on leash) by her foster dad. While passing a home nearby, a dog who was known to be aggressive with other dogs, charged out of the house/yard and attacked our Brianna. This dog was off leash and clearly not contained safely as all dogs should be, and Miss Brie is fighting for her life as a result.
Brianna is at the emergency vet clinic undergoing exploratory surgery to identify internal damage as her abdominal wall has been lacerated. The estimate for her care is around $4,500. We were not expecting to spend a Saturday night at the emergency vet, no doubt. But there it is.
Brie also has injuries to her legs (one of which had to be removed from the other dog’s mouth). We are thankful that our foster was not hurt in the process. Please send healing thoughts, donate if you can, and keep your dogs safe and contained at all times.
