UPDATE: We have adjusted the fundraiser goal from $2,000 which is the true amount needed, to $750 to cover the minimum amount needed.
Rossi, a young 3+ yro adoption challenged (see below) male tabby has been accepted for intake by Rustic Hollow Shelter - A Special Needs animal Sanctuary. His transport from Garland, TX to their location will start on June 3rd, 2019 with arrival on June 4th, 2019.
Rossi was adopted as a young kitten, then later declawed by his owner. He became aggressive fallowing the surgery. After a period of time, his owner surrendered him to the Garland Animal Shelter on 4/14/2018.
Fallowing his assessment on 4/16/18 by the shelter, he was listed as code red and scheduled for EU for his aggression. With no interest by any other rescue, our foundation stepped in at the 11th hour and tag/pulled him on 4/23/18.
He was immediately taken to our vet, given a full assessment, checkup, tested, vaccinated, etc. He was then placed in foster with his current caregiver (Nara The Lion Tamer) who has worked hard on improving his temperament/disposition while helping him to regain the trust humans.
Her efforts have paid off. To see them together today, you would never know Rossi had any issues what so ever and is a loving sweet kitty with loads of purrs and head butts.
Sadly, In spite her her success and best efforts, when a visitor/stranger comes into his area and/or he smells an unknown human/kitty, he immediately becomes aggressive and will challenge rather than hide from the intruder. Most felines simply go into hiding. Not Rossi. He becomes highly protective of his caregiver and the other felines he lives with and has accepted. This behavior makes him adoption challenged. As a result, we reached out to Rustic Hollow, who in turn, accepted him for intake, currently scheduled for June 4th, 2019.
As per our foundations policy (The Furry Paws Foundation, Inc. a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit), the transport will be conducted by our staff and will be non-stop door to door to minimize the stress on Rossi.
The trip is estimated to be 839 miles point to point, requiring 13 hrs drive time plus an additional 4 to 5 hrs for rest and fuel.
Our foundation will be renting an economy SUV for the trip at a cost of just under $200 plus fuel.
Travel costs plus the intakes fees are estimated to be in the area $1,750 to $2,000 when all said and done.
We have set this fundraiser for $2,000 to cover intake fees, vehicle rental, and fuel. All other out of pocket for our staff such as food, etc., will be paid by the staff themselves and not paid from this budget.
100% of any surplus funds from this fundraiser will be donated to Rustic Hollow at the completion of the transport.
