DARE - Dachshund Adoption Rescue & Education hasn't added a story.
After saving nearly 3,000 dachshunds and dachshund
mix's one thing is for sure, healthy dachshunds in a shelter are
difficult enough to rescue because they are in imminent danger as we
work against the clock to rescue them, but a doxie's chance drop to
almost no chance when they are injured, and sweet little 12 lb Winston
is that kind of doxie.
Winston is a young (estimated 1-2 year old) wire hair dachshund
who came into the shelter as a stray with two injured legs from an
"unkown injury" (consistant with being hit by a car) and
with the estimated expenses needed for his recovery it was decided
that if rescue didnt save him, he would not make it out of the shelter alive.
When DARE got the call we knew we had to act quickly and Winston
along with his two injured legs were welcomed into DARE's fostercare family.
DARE has been rescuing dachshunds for over 10 years and every
day we do our best to rescue and find homes for the ones we can, so
wont you help us - so we can help Winston? At this time we don't know
the exact extent of his injuries, but we do know he will need surgery,
he may loose one or both of his legs and we know it will be a few
thousand dollars.
We humbly ask you to make a donation of ANY
size to support Winstons care. Even $1 helps get DARE closer to
Winston's surgery goal which will empower DARE to be there for Winston
throughout this entire ordeal.
We have gone ahead and contacted our partner Dr. Hay, BVMS,
DACVS from Veterinary Surgical Specialists and he has
agreed to meet Winston Monday morning (10/19) at 8am and if we give
the green light he will perform surgery that day.
We know our timeframe for this fundrazar is short
but time is critical for Winston.
The longer he goes without surgery, the more pain Winston is in and the odds of complications from his injuries will arise.
This is your chance to help DARE help Winston - so act now and
please, continue to keep Winston in your thoughts & prayers. As we
head into the weekend everyone that is part of the DARE family is
working hard at fundraising and we are all hoping that we will really
be able to help Winston on Monday morning by authorizing surgery with
Dr. Hay.
(Dr. Hay is the same surgeon who saved Buster's leg last
year and we have complete faith in him and his staff to help Winston too.)
