PLEASE HELP! WE ARE ON HOLD FOR INTAKES! WE CANNOT TAKE IN ANY NEW DOGS WITHOUT YOUR HELP!
We are in a critical situation. Our medical fund is empty! We must pay down our vet bill and replenish our medical fund before we can commit to helping any more dogs in need of substantial medical care.
Furry Friends Foster and Rescue is a 501(c)(3) approved public charity that focuses on the dogs who need us the most - seniors, dogs who need medical care that goes beyond normal vetting - dogs that would be hard to be adopted, or that another rescue might pass by.
So far in 2017 we have helped close to 100 dogs - many of whom have required life-saving medical care - and the cost of that is huge. In addition, we currently have three dogs in our rescue who are "hospice" dogs. They have conditions that are incurable - but as long as they are enjoying life, we will provide them with the best of care and they will live in wonderful foster homes with us.
That is our mission - to do everything we can to give dogs in urgent need the chance to heal, the chance to hope, the chance to love and be loved, the chance to find wonderful forever homes.
We also help pet parents, whenever possible, to keep a dog in the home - and we have done that with several dogs this year by helping with medical care or training when the family has hit the inevitable bumps in the road that life deals us from time to time.
CURRENTLY OUR VET BILL IS OVER $8,000! WE *MUST* PAY IT DOWN IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO HELP THE DOGS WHO NEED US MOST!
For example there is Annie - the dog pictured in this fundraiser. Annie is a 10-year-old Pomeranian mix who came into the rescue along with Willow. They were taken from a hoarding situation by animal control, and the animal control officer reached out to us for help. When Annie came to us, she had substantial fur loss, and along with other symptoms, our vet tested her - and she was subsequently diagnosed - with Cushings Disease. She is currently being treated for that, and is doing well. BOTH Annie and Willow desperately need dental surgery - Willow's surgery is being scheduled as soon as possible, and Annie's will be done as soon as we're confident that the Cushings Disease is well under control with medication. Vetting alone for these two girls cost about $600 due to the blood work and other diagnostics that Annie needed. EACH dental surgery will cost approximately $450 - so the cost of medical care for these two sweet dogs will be be approximately $1500.00.
With *43 dogs* currently in our rescue, many of whom have needed comparable care, it takes fairly simple mathematics to show how VERY BADLY we need your help!
As a responsible rescue, we CANNOT take in more dogs until we cover the costs already incurred and have the confidence that we will be able to provide similar care to any dogs we bring into the rescue going forward.
