Help Us Build The Bridge
Where a child lives should not determine what they get the chance to discover.
Imagine being curious about robotics but never having the opportunity to use a robotics kit.
Learning about electricity without ever building a circuit.
Studying science without access to laboratory equipment.
Or learning English without many opportunities to actually use it to communicate with someone beyond your classroom.
There are bright, curious, creative students in rural communities throughout Costa Rica who may have fewer opportunities to experience the hands-on S.T.E.M. resources available in larger population centers.
The Bridge was created to help change that.
We are raising $84,000 to launch a 12-month pilot program serving approximately 150 students in four rural Costa Rican schools.
Instead of asking students to travel to opportunity, The Bridge will bring opportunity directly to them.

What Is The Bridge?
The Bridge is a mobile S.T.E.M., language, and cultural exchange program designed for rural community schools in Costa Rica.
Our mobile program will travel from school to school carrying reusable science, technology, engineering, robotics, environmental science, and renewable-energy equipment.
Students won't simply watch demonstrations.
They will:
Build. Experiment. Code. Design. Investigate. Collaborate. Test. Try again. Solve.
Our goal is to help students develop not only S.T.E.M. knowledge, but also curiosity, confidence, creativity, communication skills, and the belief that they can use what they learn to make a difference.
What Will Students Experience?
The Year 1 pilot will focus on four core areas:
Engineering & Design
Students will design, build, test, and improve structures and other hands-on engineering projects.
Environmental Science
Students will investigate topics connected to their own surroundings, including water, soil, biodiversity, plants, agriculture, waste, and ecosystems.
Technology, Coding & Robotics
Students will gain practical experience with coding, robotics, electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, and digital tools.
Renewable Energy & Sustainability
Students will explore solar power, wind energy, circuits, energy efficiency, and sustainable design.
Rather than presenting S.T.E.M. as something that happens somewhere else, we want students to see how science and technology connect directly to their own lives and communities.
More Than S.T.E.M.
The Bridge is also about language, culture, and connection.
English will be incorporated naturally into S.T.E.M. projects so students have a meaningful reason to use the language.
A student might begin with:
“This is our solar car.”
Later:
“We designed this solar car.”
And eventually:
“Our team tested three designs. This one worked best because…”
During the pilot, we also plan to establish at least one international classroom partnership.
Students in Costa Rica will be able to exchange ideas with students elsewhere in the world while sharing their own language, culture, environment, knowledge, and experiences.
This is important to us because The Bridge is not meant to work in only one direction.
We each have something to learn, and we each have something to teach.
Why Is It Called The Bridge?
Because bridges connect things that were once separated.
We want to build bridges between:
Rural communities and educational opportunity
Students and technology
Classroom learning and real-world problem solving
Spanish and English
Costa Rican students and students in other cultures
Young people and mentors
Curiosity and possibility
Ultimately, we want students to move through a journey:
DISCOVER → EXPLORE → CREATE → CONNECT → SOLVE → SHARE → LEAD
A child might first encounter robotics through The Bridge.
That experience could spark curiosity.
Curiosity can become skill.
Skill can build confidence.
Confidence can open doors to mentorship, education, entrepreneurship, or a future career.
And one day, that same student may return to help another child discover what is possible.

The Year 1 Pilot
With your support, our first year will aim to provide:
4 Rural Schools
Approximately 150 Students
4 Core S.T.E.M. Modules
Approximately 32 Program Touchpoints
4 Community Innovation Projects
At Least 1 International Classroom Partnership
1 Student Innovation Showcase
Students will receive recurring experiences throughout the year rather than a single one-time visit.
At the end of the program, each school will also work toward a Community Innovation Project, giving students an opportunity to apply S.T.E.M. thinking to a question connected to their own community.
They might investigate water conservation, biodiversity, agriculture, waste, renewable energy, or another issue that matters locally.
The goal is not simply to give students answers.
It is to give them the tools and confidence to begin finding answers for themselves.
A Laboratory That Fits Inside a Vehicle
We are intentionally starting responsibly.
Our Year 1 plan does not include purchasing an expensive customized S.T.E.M. bus.
Instead, we will create a reusable portable mobile laboratory that can travel safely from school to school.
It may include:
-
Laptops and tablets
-
Robotics kits
-
Microcontrollers and electronics
-
Portable microscopes
-
Environmental science equipment
-
Engineering materials
-
Solar and renewable-energy kits
-
Measurement tools
-
Portable power and connectivity equipment
We like to think of it as:
A laboratory that fits inside a vehicle.
Once the program has been tested and we understand what students and schools need most, we can make informed decisions about future expansion.
Why $84,000?
Our Year 1 funding goal will support:
$42,000 — Educators & Program Team
$15,000 — Reusable Mobile S.T.E.M. Equipment
$8,500 — Transportation & Mobile Operations
$4,500 — Student Program Materials
$2,000 — Technology & Connectivity
$1,500 — Language & Cultural Exchange
$2,500 — Evaluation & Impact Reporting
$1,500 — Student Innovation Showcase
$3,500 — Administration, Legal, Accounting & Insurance
$3,000 — Contingency Reserve
Total Year 1 Goal: $84,000
We chose a flexible fundraising model because every contribution can help move The Bridge forward.
We don't have to wait until every dollar is raised to begin building the program.

What Your Gift Can Do
$25 can help provide student experiment and engineering materials.
$50 can help supply hands-on project materials for student teams.
$100 can support equipment, programming, and transportation.
$250 can help purchase robotics, electronics, environmental science, or renewable-energy components.
$560 represents approximately the overall Year 1 investment per participating student.
$1,000 can provide meaningful support toward a school's Community Innovation Project.
$5,000 can help build the reusable mobile S.T.E.M. equipment library.
$10,000+ can provide major support toward sustained programming across our pilot schools.
Every contribution becomes part of the Bridge.

How You Can Help
Donate
Every contribution moves us closer to putting equipment, educators, and opportunities into rural classrooms.
Share
If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your friends, family, workplace, school, university, or community can make a tremendous difference.
Connect Us
If you know an educator, scientist, engineer, technology company, university, international school, foundation, business, or potential sponsor that may want to help, please introduce us.
Some of the most important bridges begin with a simple connection.
Imagine What Comes Next
Imagine a student looking through a microscope for the first time.
A child building a robot and discovering that engineering makes sense to him.
A group of students using technology to investigate a question affecting their own community.
A student who is hesitant to speak English becoming excited to explain a project she helped create.
Two classrooms in different countries realizing that they have as much to teach one another as they have to learn.
And years later, one of those students returning as a mentor.
That is the Bridge we want to build.
Not simply a bridge to somewhere else.
A bridge that allows knowledge, opportunity, language, culture, ideas, and possibility to travel in both directions.
Help Us Build The Bridge.
$84,000. Four rural schools. Approximately 150 students. One year to prove what is possible.
Donate. Share. Connect.
And become part of the bridge between curiosity and possibility.
