European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) partners up with Haver Srbija in collecting donations. All contributions via this page will be fully directed to Haver Srbija and the continuity of the impressive work they do. 

Who is Haver Srbija and what do they do?

Haver Srbija, based in Serbia, is an educational organization whose activities are designed for all generations, religions and nationalities with the purpose to educate and empower participants to take an active role in shaping our society.

Projects of our organization cover three major themes: Jewish culture, tradition and history; the Holocaust education; Minority rights and anti-discrimination education.

Annually, the organization delivers workshops to more than 4000 primary and secondary school students in 23 cities around Serbia; trains 20 teachers; organizes Holocaust commemoration events reaching 600 participants from the general public; organizes “Holocaust - Culture of remembrance” art, literature and multimedia contest for pupils around Serbia; trains 20 new volunteers and constantly invests in further education and empowerment of existing volunteers. In addition, the organization delivers short courses on Jewish themes to students, young adults and adults; organizes gatherings with representatives of Jewish and other minorities to share their experiences and life stories with each other and the wider public. In 2016 the Ministry of Education approved workshops in public schools on Holocaust, Jewish culture and anti-discrimination.

With partners from other minority groups, in particular with LGBTQI community and Roma community, our organization organizes festivals, seminars, trainings and gatherings for members of different minorities to gather, exchange experiences and empower each other. 

During the night between 6th and 7th of November 2023, the entrance of our office was vandalized. Various antisemitic graffiti were written on the walls and doors, among others  “Haver get out of Serbia” and all of this affected us deeply. Haver Srbija is a peaceful and educational organization, founded by Serbian citizens who are Jewish community members with the aim of opening our Jewish community to the general public and building bridges between different fractions in our society. Since the establishment of the organization 10 years ago, for the first time we feel threatened, scared and not welcomed. Knowing that somebody came to our door in order to vandalize it and leave a clear message of hate and hostility, is disturbing us on a daily basis. We are now aware that we need to relocate in order to ensure the safety of our participants and staff members.

At the same time we know that our work is crucial in this moment and that education is the road to overcoming prejudice, antisemitism and all types of discrimination in our society.

Your donation will help us navigate through these disturbing times, and will ensure continuity of our work which for the last ten years impacted more than 6000 participants annually.
