There is a lot of difficult news about our kids’ mental health these days. 

• Covid has increased isolation, curtailed many activities, raised stress levels in families, increased social divisiveness, and in general has created a fearful atmosphere.
• Loneliness, depression and anxiety in teens are higher than ever. 
• Screens and devices are everywhere, all the time, and they don’t seem to be making our youth any happier or healthier. 

To thrive despite these challenges, many of our kids need something more than they can get at home, at school, on their teams, or in their online communities. The mission of the Strong Youth Foundation is to expand equitable access to nature-based, community building programming that meets these needs. Please join us in building our scholarship fund so that youth from all backgrounds can participate regardless of financial means or other barriers to participation. 

Your contributions will support scholarships for ReTribe programs. ReTribe, based in Underhill, Vermont, was created as an attempt to foster a healthy culture that can help youth and adults move through these challenging times. Their youth programming creates opportunities for:

• Close, caring relationships with near-peer and young adult mentors;
• Places to discover and express their authentic selves, free of social, academic, or family expectations;
• Wild play, the old-fashioned kind that happens outdoors, requires no special equipment, and may involve getting wet, dirty, and a little scratched up;
• Safe and supported space to take physical and emotional risks; and
• The opportunity to learn new skills freely, joyfully, and independently.

ReTribe’s programs that we provide scholarships for include  Forest School, day  camps, and teen overnight retreats and rites of passage.  Please visit ReTribe’s website for more information about all their programs.
