Confirmed: 9/20/18 - Film Screening on Asaase Yaa Day Mikyia mo (Greetings), We heard back from the facility today and we chose Yaada/Yawda (Thursday) evening, September 20th, for our first screening of our film in Washington, DC. This is the final Yaada of 13018 and is in the midst of our 7-day OBRADWIRA - Aakhuamuman New Year observance. [There were no weekend dates available until January.] Yaada is a fitting day for two reasons. First, Okofo Yaw (Nat Turner) was born on Yawda/Yaada and is one of our Akan Nananom Nsamanfo who has inspired our work of AKYISAN - Ancestral Religious Reversion. Yawda is also Yaada. Asaase Yaa is the Barren Earth Mother Obosom (Deity) whose sacred day is Yaada (Thursday), while Asaase Afua is the Fertile Earth Mother Obosom (Deity) whose sacred day is Fida (Friday). Asaase Yaa is also the stern Judge who is consulted on matters of the Oman (nation/community) through divination. With our date confirmed we must now cover the expense of the venue as soon as possible.
