The mikvah is a treasured institution in the St. Louis community. It is so important that even during the COVID-19 pandemic we remain open for our community every single day. W e are proud to say that we were one of the first Mikvahs in the United States to put procedures in place to help protect us all from COVID-19.  Our efforts have enabled us to stay open when many Mikvahs have closed. It is with this in mind, that we ask you to help us reach our goal to ensure the Mikvah can continue to do this vital work.

In order to achieve the stability and viability of the mikvah, we need your help.  In addition to the remaining costs for improvements on the Staenberg Family Mikvah, the mikvah incurs ongoing daily expenses that outpace our fundraising totals and user fees .  This year, our goal is to raise $30,000 from our spring appeal to close our annual funding gap.  Please consider making a gift to preserve this necessary Jewish institution.  We can’t do it without your help!

Taharath Israel maintains two Mikvahs year-round, the Staenberg Family Mikvah on the Millstone Campus and the Rebbetzin Nacha Rivkin and Rebbetzin Hinde Zuckerman Memorial Shabbat Mikvah. In March, we began renovation efforts at the Staenberg Family Mikvah. The new space will include:

  • Renovated preparation rooms
  • More private facilities
  • ADA accessible preparation room
  • Updated and cleaned kelim mikvah
  • Modern and efficient heating and ventilation systems

We are so excited to share this new space with you in the coming months. If you are interested in naming opportunities - it is not too late! Please contact for more information.

We are confident that this investment in our mikvah will be a foundation for greater community growth, providing young, new families easy access to the benefits of a beautiful and enjoyable mikvah experience.

With gratitude,

Taharth Israel Board
