Sotomayor Productions is a Philadelphia and Pittsburgh-based media production company dedicated to justice-driven storytelling that spotlights Latinx, immigrant, queer, and trans communities. We work at the intersection of documentary filmmaking, investigative journalism, and community media to challenge extractive narratives and reimagine who gets to tell the story.
Instead of parachuting into communities for sensationalized content, we collaborate deeply—over months and years—to co-create films rooted in trust, transparency, and care. Our projects center the lived experiences and leadership of those most impacted, with the goal of shifting power and amplifying solutions.
In addition to producing award-winning films, we partner with nonprofits, educators, and cultural institutions to design impact campaigns, facilitate workshops, and host community screenings. As we grow, we’re investing in long-term sustainability through memberships, business sponsorships, and strategic partnerships that ensure our work remains independent and accountable to the communities we serve.

Sotomayor Productions is an award-winning queer, Latinx-led production company dedicated to telling bold stories rooted in identity, culture, and social justice. Through our films, we amplify underrepresented voices and document movements fighting for dignity, equity, and environmental justice. Our work has screened for thousands of viewers at film festivals, community events, universities, and cultural institutions across the country and around the world. Beyond filmmaking, we mentor emerging artists, collaborate with grassroots organizations, and create spaces where storytelling can inspire dialogue, healing, and collective action. |

How funds will be used.
 | Donations to Sotomayor Productions directly support the creation, distribution, and community impact of our films. Early funding milestones help cover essential production costs such as filming, editing, archival research, and fair compensation for the artists and collaborators who make this work possible. As we reach higher milestones, funds allow us to expand community screenings, develop educational resources, support our internship and fellowship programs for emerging filmmakers, and ensure our films reach audiences through festivals, schools, and grassroots organizations. Supporters will be kept informed through regular email updates, behind-the-scenes production notes, and invitations to virtual or in-person screenings and events. We believe in transparency and community accountability, so we share milestones, progress updates, and the real-world impact of our films with the people who make this work possible. |
