SFU (Simon Fraser University) is a Canadian university located in British Columbia with a rich athletic history. In 2012, the school joined the NCAA(National Collegiate Athletic Association) becoming the first and only Canadian university to do so, a title they still hold to this day. The decision to join the NCAA marked a significant milestone for SFU's basketball program, as it allowed them to compete at a higher level and elevate the university's athletic performance.

SFU's decision to join the NCAA was not without challenges. As a Canadian university, SFU has different funding models and limitations compared to American NCAA schools.
