We're linking Victoria and Vancouver by trail through the new Salish Sea Marine Trail, a 257-km paddling route that will become part of the Trans Canada Trail.

We offer charitable receipts with your donation.
President BC Marine Trails

The Salish Sea Marine Trail will be a 257-km water route designed for small self-propelled boats and paddlecraft traversing the Salish Sea from Vancouver to Victoria. It will be one of the Salish Sea’s primary marine-based recreation assets. Accessible points will link parks, recreation sites, access points and trailheads, creating a viable transportation alternative to motorized vehicles and vessels. The spectacular natural setting of the Salish Sea will foster community health, a high quality of life and an appreciation for the outdoors and our marine ecology. Trail development will be a collaborative process of partnerships and agreements between First Nations, communities, landowners, the Province and the BC Marine Trails Network Association.

The Salish Sea Marine Trail will:

• Improve the quality of life for residents and visitors who wish to make use of Canada’s Salish Sea;
• Broaden and strengthen the economic base in the region through infrastructure improvements and increased tourist spending;
• Protect the natural environment by discouraging use of unauthorized shoreline accesses that would otherwise result in degradation, erosion and disturbance to habitat;
• Contribute to community health by promoting low-impact, self-propelled activity;
• Contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing air, water and noise pollution through advocacy for self-propelled travel; and
• Play a role in community and Coast Salish heritage by drawing attention to the natural and man-made history encompassed within the Salish Sea.

Help us make this a reality as we navigate the planning obstacles and create new campsites along the route. It won't be easy, but it will be worthwhile.
