Support Riverways: Connecting Communities to Urban Waterways!
Riverways is a collaborative initiative uniting nonprofit organizations across the Philadelphia-Camden region to connect communities with local waterways through education, recreation, and environmental stewardship. Our mission is to increase safe access to the region’s on-water trail network while empowering youth—especially from Black, Latinx, and low-income communities—to become catalysts for change.
Led by key partners like LandHealth Institute, Bartram’s Garden, Glen Foerd, Discovery Pathways, UrbanPromise, and the Center for Aquatic Sciences, Riverways offers programs including guided kayaking, environmental education, youth leadership development, and water quality monitoring. The coalition primarily serves Latinx, Black, and low-income communities in the Greater Philadelphia and Camden area. Since 2017, we’ve hosted over twenty youth summer camps and programs. During that same time, public boating by our members has served nearly 200,000 people! In 2024 and 2025 alone, Riverways facilitated experiences for over 60,000 individuals to engage with the river and their environment. Riverways Collaboration's work is made possible through support from foundations, government grants, and individual donors who believe in our vision of cleaner, safer, and more accessible waterways. |  |
