Jeris Waldvogel Music Scholarship hasn't added a story.

What you do.

Our goal is to raise awareness for breast cancer and allocate 50% of our funds towards a scholarship started in memory of my mother, Jeris Waldvogel who lost her battle with breast cancer on October 5, 2003. This scholarship is available to High School seniors who have a music background. The other 50% of the funds will go toward starting a comprehensive support program for cancer patients which will include financial assistance for medical bills and transportation assistance to and from doctor appointments.

What you've done.

Hi everyone. I am Amy Puls, daughter of Jeris Waldvogel. I am raising funds for two reasons - a scholarship in memory of my mother, and to start a non-profit for breast cancer patients.
Each spring a scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student from Calumet County here in Wisconsin. This scholarship was started in memory of my mother, Jeris after she passed away in 2003.
Since then we have handed out over $5,000 in scholarship money.
For this October fundraiser we incorporate physical fitness as a way to promote the importance health and wellness, especially in the fight against cancer.
As a Nurse Practitioner, health and wellness is my passion. It is also extremely important for us to maintain a healthy balance of mind, body, and spirit to help fend off illness. I encourage each one of you to join us in this movement to incorporate activity into each day.
You can follow us on social media or on this page for updates on our daily workouts.

How funds will be used.

Reps Against Breast Cancer

This annual fundraiser (Reps Against Breast Cancer) is held each October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help continue to increase the scholarship funds to healthy state. Last year was our first year doing the Reps Against Breast Cancer fundraiser and we will continue it each year. We encourage everyone to join us in the movement to raise awareness of the importance of staying healthy and getting regular exercise to stay strong in the fight against cancer.

Last year we raised over $2,000. Help us exceed that this year!

For every dollar raised we will add on to the total amount of reps we do in the month of October. Last year we did 5,000 reps. Help us do more this year!

I would also like to start a non-profit that will provide financial assistance and transportation assistance to cancer patients in Mom's name. As you can imagine, this takes time, a lot of effort, and of course, money. We will be allocating 50% of the funds to the scholarship and 50% to starting the non-profit.

Any donation amount will help!

DONATE TO HELP US REACH OUR GOAL

If you could give any amount to help us reach our goals we would greatly appreciate it. Even $5 will help!

Our goal is $3,000.

We will be starting with 3,000 reps during the month of October.

But for every $1 raised, we will ADD that many reps onto our 3,000.

So if you donate $20, we will increase our reps to 3020 in October.

If we raise our goal of $3000, we will actually be doing 6,000 reps because we have already committed to doing 3,000 reps!

Dollar for Rep!

How many reps do you want us to do???

FAQ

Who is Jeris Waldvogel (my Mom)?

My mom was a very talented musician. She was a teacher of many things, first as a K through 12 music teacher and then as a real-estate instructor through the Wisconsin Realtors Association. She served as director of the music department for several churches. For the 15 years before her death, she served as music director for Ebenezer UCC in Chilton, WI, where she was instrumental in forming the Ebenezer Brass Handbell choir in 1991. She was also an active, long-time member of the Fox Valley Handbell Association. Though she loved handbells, her instrument of choice was the Pipe Organ. She enjoyed playing as many different pipe organs as she could during her travels worldwide. During her time with Ebenezer Brass, she organized three European and one Canadian handbell concert tours where the group shared their talents and love of music worldwide. She never stopped "teaching" the love of music, travel, and life, even while fighting Breast Cancer.
Mom fought Breast Cancer on and off for eight years. She lost her battle on October 5, 2003, shy of her 61st birthday (October 30, 1942) and only a few months after returning from her last European tour. Ironically, she was born and died during Breast Cancer Awareness month from Breast Cancer.
This scholarship was started shortly after Mom's death. It is distributed through Ebenezer Brass Handbell Choir to a graduating high school senior in Calumet County, which is the county where Ebenezer is located. Eligible seniors must be enrolled in a degree program pursuing any field of study at any accredited trade school, technical school, college, or university. They must have participate in a community, church, or school musical program, including musicals, chorus, band, hand bells, etc.
Jeris (Mom) touched so many people's lives through her love for music. She was a kind, generous, loyal woman who would always put others before herself. I would appreciate any amount of donation to help keep her spirit alive by helping students achieve a higher level of education and help decrease some of the financial and transportation burden on cancer patients.
With love and honor,
Amy
What is Shed Barbell?
Shed Barbell is my gym located in my shed where neighbors, friends, and family come to enjoy each other's encouragement to stay healthy and active through functional fitness, weight lifting, and more. Our workouts during this fundraiser will be done at Shed Barbell. Anyone can join us at the Shed for free during the month of October. All we ask for is a donation to our cause.
What is the goal for the future Non-Profit?
I have had a dream of building a non-profit to offer financial assistance and transportation assistance to those who are fighting against cancer. I have experienced two family members die from cancer (my Mother, Jeris, and her husband - my step dad, Don). My Mom did not have ANY health insurance during her cancer treatment. She paid out of pocket for all of it. you can imagine the burden that put on our family. My stepdad, Don, was on Medicare so his treatment was covered for the most part. However, transportation to and from appointments and chemotherapy treatments was a struggle. It took family and friends to come together to share in the efforts. Some people don't have the luxury of having family and friends available. So I want the non-profit to help with this through paying for ubers, taxi's or volunteers to help transport them when needed. The financial struggles are real. It's often the little things that add up to costly necessities.
Starting a non-profit takes time, effort, donations, and partnering with larger donors. Will you be that partner?
Help me get this going!
