Who we are: Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry has been in operation at Lake Villa since 2017. When Covid was at its peak underprivileged Families, Seniors, and Syrian and Afghan refugees were hard hit with financial difficulties and every contribution we receive helps support our mission. Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry played a vital role in providing these clients with daily food necessities such as meat, chicken, dairy products, frozen and prepared meals, various fresh fruits and vegetables, dry food products like rice, flour, oil, spices, and canned foods, hygienic products like detergent, liquid soaps, diapers, and feminine hygiene as well as incontinence products.

At weekly distribution, the pantry serves 150+ families every week. 100% of financial donations are used to purchase ethnic food and maintain the pantry, and no goods or services are provided in exchange for the contribution.

Our mission: To improve the health and well-being of our neighbors through nutritious food and compassion. To provide those in need with emergency food by working together with community members, community leaders, local businesses and organizations to gather, store, and distribute goods; to offer compassionate help as we respect the dignity of each person we serve; and to inform and educate our community about the issue of hunger.

How we work: Our distribution takes place every Friday and Saturday each week and is open to all who come to our door; no questions asked. We are also on Lake Country 211 on call around the clock and delivering food to the callers’ addresses day and night.

Our philosophy: We are committed to offering nutritious foods that impact a young person’s health, growth, and ability to learn. Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry’s food program also helps adults and seniors focus their limited resources on other basic needs.

Generous in-kind and financial support of our foundation is especially appreciated now because food insecurity in our community has grown dramatically since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and high inflation: the number of people lining up for our weekly distributions has increased more than four times an it is growing.

What we need: This necessitated the need of the hour to have a truck for the pantry to transport the food and save money, otherwise spending weekly $175 on renting the U-Haul truck.

A pre-owned 2011 16-foot Ford Truck was purchased in December 2020 at a very reasonable price on the increased demand of over 600+ families who are in need of food assistance. This Truck was the main source for various Food Drives organized throughout Chicagoland areas to serve diverse communities. These past two years Truck was a blessing as it not only served thousands of families but also saved money. Unfortunately, two months ago the engine of this truck broke down on a highway and had to be towed. The repair cost is estimated to be $7500, and Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry operates on its donors’ generous donations. With this campaign, we aim to cover the truck’s repair expenses and the pantry expenses for the first quarter of 2023. 100% of your donation goes to Serve Food for the Community. If we achieve and surpass our goal, we are planning to replace our truck with a newer one and a delivery minivan for our door-to-door food delivery for our elderly community who can’t come to the pantry.

The Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry is most appreciative of the financial and in-kind donations it receives. Without the generosity of the local community, the Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry would be unable to provide the quality and level of service that is so desperately needed. As we position ourselves to be financially able to acquire and build or renovate a permanent facility and to sustain our operations, Rahmah Interfaith Food Pantry requests ongoing support in the form of volunteers, prayers, food donations, and financial donations for both operations and acquisition.
