The Vancouver Writers Fest presents public events with novelists, short story writers, poets, non-fiction writers, spoken word artists and journalists. This October we plan to present an event about Raif Badawi, the imprisoned Saudi blogger, who is being persecuted for speaking his mind. Freedom of speech cuts to the heart of what it means to live in a free society.

Raif Badawi’s life is at risk. He’s trapped in a Saudi Arabian prison. Today, Raif’s family need your help. You can help bring his wife Ensaf to Vancouver Writers Fest where she will read his blogs in public and build support of the campaign to free Raif.
